Infertility

At New Life Obstetrics and Gynecology, our goal is to assist our patients and help them achieve their longtime dream of becoming parents. We offer the best quality of care for both male and female infertility.

Fertility Evaluation

Your standard evaluation for fertility includes things like physical exams, medical, and the sexual history for both spouses. Men are given a semen analysis to determine the sperm count and sperm movement. The process for women involves checking first if ovulation is occurring. Blood tests help determine and monitor this ovulation, along with ultrasound exams or an ovulation home kit.

At New Life Wellness, we offer the following evaluation methods:

  • Hormone Evaluation
  • Miscarriage Evaluation
  • Pelvic Ultrasound
  • Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

In-Vitro Fertilization

In-Vitro Fertilications is a treatment involving the fertilization of an egg by sperm outside of the woman’s body. The process consists of monitoring and stimulating the woman’s ovulation. It removes eggs from the ovaries and let’s the sperm fertilize these eggs in a laboratory.

Testicular Sperm Aspiration (TESA)

Testicular Sperm Aspiration or TESA, is a method for retrieving sperm where a needle is used to draw sperm-containing tissue from the testes. This method does not retrieve as much sperm as the TESE method and carries with it high risks since the needle may accidentally puncture blood vessels in the testes.

Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)

If you would like to start building a family there are different options you can explore, In-Vitro Fertilization, egg/sperm/embryo donation, surrogacy or you can screen embryos for genetic problems.

Our providers recommend PGD to women who:

  • Had two or more than two miscarriages
  • Had multiple unsuccessful IVF attempts (two separate cycles)
  • Are 35 or older and had the minimum of one miscarriage
  • Had multiple miscarriages or multiple failed IVF attempts

Pre-implementation genetic diagnosis screens for defects caused by a single gene that may cause genetic disorders. Among these disorders are:

  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Hemophilia
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Marfan Syndrome
  • Down Syndrome
  • Huntington’s Disease
  • Sickle Cell Anemia
  • Tay-Sachs Disease

Pre-implementation genetic diagnosis can also be used by couples that have a high probability of passion on inheritable genetic diseases to their children and can also be used for gender selection.

Gender Selection / Family Balancing

With IVF, gender selection may be used when parents desire a specific sex/gender for their child or when diseases linked to gender, such as hemophilia, are a major concern. PGD is used for gender selection.
